The All Progressives Congress has won 19 seats of the state house of Assembly, leaving the opposition PDP with five seats in Gombe State’s 24-man House of Assembly.

253 candidates ran for the Assembly seats, but it was a major battle between the APC and the ruling party in the state, PDP, which won five seats.

Dr. Shittu Ahmed Tajudeen, who served as collation officer for Balanga North constituency announced the results.

El-Rufai wins Kaduna gov polls

The Governor of Kaduna State, who is also the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Governorship election held in the state on Saturday, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has been declared the winner.

The Vice Chancellor, Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Mohammed Bello, who is the returning officer, said El-Rufai polled1,045,427 to defeat his closest rival who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Isa Ashiru, who scored 814,168.

Kano Polls: INEC REC appeals for calm, promises to declare results today .

The Kano State INEC Resident Electoral Commission, Prof. Riskuwa Arabu has appealed for calm among residents and indigenes of the state.

He made the appeal following the distruption of the Collation process at the Nasarawa Local Government Area Centre, in the early hours of Monday.

Oyo people stood against mismanagement, external forces —Gov-elect, Makinde

The Oyo State Governor-Elect, Mr Seyi Makinde, said he owed his victory to the people who stood up against what he described as the fleecing of the state treasury in collusion with external forces.

He, however, hinted that his administration would not hammer on the alleged mismanagement, but would rather focus on policies that would move the state forward.

He spoke on Monday while delivering a “Thank You Address” at his home in Ikolaba, Ibadan.

The Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the results of the governorship election held in Kaduna State on Saturday.

The party’s agent, Mr. Jerry Ishaya, who stated this at the State Collation Centre, said the result was not the true reflection of the votes cast on Saturday.

He said the party has rejected the result in all its entirety.

Party agents call for replacement of Taraba collation officer

When Newsmen visited the INEC office in the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state around midnight on Saturday, it was observed that the ad hoc workers spread mats and wrappers on the bare floor and grasses in the open in order to catch some sleep, while some of them slept inside the buses used to convey them to their various polling units.

APC’s Sule wins Nasarawa Guber election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Nasarawa state.

APC candidate polled a total of 327,229 votes while  Mr David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party polled184,281 votes.

The Katsina State Police Command says three INEC ad hoc staff kidnapped during Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections in the state has been released by their abductors.

The Governor of Cross River State, Prof Ben Ayade of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been declared winner of the governorship election.

He polled a total of 381,484 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Senator John Owan-Enoh, who polled 131,161 votes.

The Social Democratic Party candidate, Eyo Ekpo polled 4,818 votes.

The returning officer for the governorship election in Cross River State, Prof Akii Ibhadode said, “That Ben Ayade, having scored the required number of lawful votes is hereby declared winner of the election.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship election in the state as inconclusive.

The All Progressives Congress candidate, Simon Lalong, led with 583,255 votes in 11 local governments, while the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Jeremiah Useni, got 538,326.

Given the 44,929 margin of lead and the total number of cancelled votes at 49,377, the Returning Officer in Plateau State, Prof Richard Kimbir, who spoke at the state INEC headquarters, stated that the election was inconclusive.

Kimbir said, “Going by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I am constrained to say that the election to governorship election is inconclusive. In 21 days, supplementary elections will be conducted.”

INEC declares PDP’s Seyi Makinde Oyo gov-elect

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mr Seyi Makinde, has emerged winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Oyo state.

The INEC Returning Officer in the state Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, declared the result on Sunday evening at the State headquarters of INEC in Ibadan.

Ogundipe, said that Makinde scored 515,621 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Adebayo Adelabu of the All Progressives Congress who garnered 357,982 votes.

Katsina: APC’s Masari wins all 34 LGs

Katsina State Governor, Mr Aminu Masari, won the governorship polls in all the 34 local governments areas of the state officially announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday.

Masari, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, sought re-election for another term of four years on the platform of the All Progressives Congress last Saturday.

Bauchi Polls: INEC cancels Dogara’s constituency result

Palpable tension took over the Professor Mahmood Yakubu Conference Hall where officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission are collating results of the governorship and State House of Assembly election in Bauchi.

The tension was caused by the cancellation of the results of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area by the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology in Yola, Prof. Kyari Mohammed.

INEC declares Sanwo-Olu as new Lagos governor

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as the winner of the March 9 governorship election held in the state on Saturday.

Sanwo-Olu, who scored 739,445 out of the 977,476 total valid votes in the election, defeated 44 other candidates to emerge as the winner and governor-elect in the state.

APC Gov Badaru wins re-election in Jigawa, as party sweeps 30 Assembly seats

The incumbent Governor of Jigawa, Muhammad Badaru has won the gubernatorial election conducted in the state on Saturday.

The Returning Officer for the governorship election in Jigawa, Prof, Azubike Nwankwo, Provost, Nigeria Defence Academy Kaduna declared the result in Dutse on Sunday.

Nwankwo said that Badaru, who contested on the platform of All Progressives Congress, was returned elected with 810,933 votes to beat his closest rival, Aminu Ringim, who scored 288,356 votes, followed by Bashir Adamu of Social Democratic Party who got 32,894 votes.

PDP rejects suspension of electoral processes in Rivers

The Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the suspension of all electoral processes in Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, called on INEC to immediately declare the result of the state governorship election.

INEC had on Sunday announced the suspension of all electoral processes in Rivers until further notice.

INEC adjourns Delta Gov polls results announcement till Monday

Presiding Officer for the Delta State governorship election, Prof. Seth Accra Jaja, has adjourned the announcement of the results to 9am on Monday.

The results for 19 local government areas have so far been announced.

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate for Saturday’s governorship election, Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has cleared all the 17 Local Government Area results.

Our correspondent reports that the results of the 17 Council Areas as announced by Independent National Electoral Commission, collation/returning officers shows that PDP polled over 98 per cent of the total votes cast in the election.

From the results announced by INEC, state returning officer, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, PDP polled a total of 449,935 to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, who polled a total of 10,423 to come a distant second.
